About Happy Wanderers
Happy Wanderers is a family camping club,
affiliated with Family Campers & RVers. The club
first met in 1958 and, in 1961, was granted Charter #61 from National Campers
& Hikers Association. NCHA is now called FCRV, to better reflect the interests of its members.
Connecticut FCRV has six chapters, of which Happy Wanderers is the largest,
with about 40 families. The club was formed with the expressed purpose of
sharing camping and hiking and the sociability that accompanies it.
Monthly meetings are held October through March, then as needed during the
camping season.
Officers are President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. Directors
are Entertainment, Refreshment, Hospitality, Campout, Self-Propelled
Camping, Newsletter and Conservation. These volunteers are responsible for the
administration of the club and duties of their committees. Approximately
one-third of Happy Wanderers have Life Membership in Family Campers & RVers.
Our members camp in every type of camping unit - tents, pop-ups, travel
trailers, fifth-wheels and motor homes. From the smallest to the largest,
all are equally welcome. FCRV members are known as "The Friendliest People
in the World", and since 1949 have been dedicated to camping fellowship and
strengthening family bonds. Camping is for all ages; children, teens, young
adults, married couples and retirees will all find something in FCRV.
